#### Cons: While the Innotek RL-514A has many strengths, there are some potential drawbacks to consider:1. **Cost**: The RL-514A is an investment. The initial purchase price, along with potential accessories or replacements, can be significant, especially for hobbyists or those just starting in falconry. This may be a barrier for individuals on a tight budget.
2. **Maintenance Requirements**: Like any mechanical device, the RL-514A requires regular maintenance to ensure it functions properly. This includes cleaning, lubricating moving parts, and checking for wear and tear. Neglecting maintenance can lead to malfunctions during critical training sessions.
3. **Learning Curve**: While the device is user-friendly, mastering its full potential such as optimizing speed, trajectory, and lure selection can take time. Beginners may need to invest time in learning how to use it effectively without frustrating the bird or themselves.
4. **Space and Setup Needs**: Operating the RL-514A requires open space to safely launch the lure without obstructions. This may limit where and when it can be used, particularly in urban or densely populated areas.
5. **Potential for Overuse**: If not used judiciously, the RL-514A could become a crutch for the bird, reducing its natural hunting instincts. Over-reliance on the launcher might diminish the bird s independence and ability to hunt without assistance.
6. **Weather Limitations**: Outdoor use means the launcher is subject to weather conditions. Rain, extreme heat, or cold can affect performance or durability, requiring additional care or storage solutions.
7. **Noise and Disturbance**: The launcher can be noisy during operation, which might startle nearby wildlife or attract unwanted attention in certain environments. This could be a concern in sensitive or protected areas.

I only tested the transmitter and launcher communicate to each other, but didn't test setting off. Selling an Innotek Remote Bird Launcher System which includes the working launcher, remote/transmitter w/lanyard, original instructions, training guide, 9v battery for and LR43 batteries transmitter. The transmitter takes 7 of those batteries that I taped together for easy insertion, and including the extra 3 came in pack. So this unit is nearly 30 years old but I used it only once and stored my garage has some rust on the underside of metal box.
I bought this unit in the late 90s and training guide says, Revision Date 02/97. I was very surprised that it still works after replacing the batteries in transmitter, which is paired with unit.
